Digital transformation can help Nigeria improve its economic prospects for the Nigerian citizens. It can accelerate growth, facilitate job creation, increase productivity, and improve governance when growth did not exceed 1% in the past five years, unemployment has reached 23% among the youth, and female labor force participation is improving and stands at 50.23%. It can also have a positive impact on inclusion and poverty reduction and increase access to, and the quality of, education. Currently, highlighting a large untapped growth and potential jobs resource. Growth in the adoption of digital services by government, businesses, and consumers is having a positive impact on daily life in Nigeria. Mobile technology is playing an increasingly central role in the country’s economy and, for the majority of Nigerians, mobile broadband is the first and only technology for accessing the internet, opening the door to a whole new world. FutureHack is the starting point to leverage Nigerian’s pool of skilled and entrepreneurial talent to build a digital economy focused on innovation.
FutureHack is a national technology hackathon event, in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, domain experts (and others) collaborate intensively on software projects. This year, the focus is to find clearly defined ideas and prototypes on Cyber Security and Digital Inclusion. Participants are allowed to express creativity and are encouraged to develop unique solutions with an emphasis on using the latest technology.
